Dissemination and exploitation activities pay off for SME microTEC The benefits working in EC funded R&D projects and take care off dissemination and exploitation became obvious during microTEC´s participation in the EC funded Integrated Project “Healthy Aims” www.healthyaims.org too as outlined below. An important EC requirement when funding a technically oriented R&D project is the generation of a dissemination and exploitation plan by partner. This request is frequently perceived just as a liability to submit documents. However it´s neither just an academic training nor a commercial exercise! Within the framework of “Healthy Aims” microTEC acts as service partner, offers developing material and packaging solutions for microsystems and MEMS in smallest space based on it´s international patented RMPD® and 3D-CSP technologies. Results have been presented at various opportunities (direct SME oriented workshops, tradeshows, scientific conferences, business meetings, web presence). These presentations attracted several potential customers searching for new high integrated packaging solutions for their products. Specific results are: - The experiences gained from the Healthy Aims project was a major reason for a renowned German manufacturer of medical devices to start a product development collaboration with microTEC. - The high potential of 3D-CSP packaging solutions was realized, limits of conventional packaging technologies recognized, and 3D-CSP chosen to implement new design solutions. - Further 3 industrial partners outside the Healthy Aims consortium are currently addressing topics related to implants, taking advantage of microTEC´s design solutions and checking out which of other HA offers can be integrated into their next steps too. microTEC is confident, that - based on the akquision of new projects resulting from “Healthy Aims” dissemination activities - the own development efforts spent have already payed off by the end of the project. After the end of the project, i.e. 2008, revenue 5 times more than the original microTEC project budget seems to be possible with considerable increase in the following years. microTEC offer support of other EC partner´s dissemination and exploitation activities and share knowledge in successful dissemination and exploitation. The company is active in applications of micro- and nanotechnologies since 1996, for more information please see http://www.microtec-d.com.
