The project to establish a coordination centre for national systems of compulsory civil aviation incident reports has now entered its fifth and sixth phases (ECCAIRS 5 and 6) and the European Commission, DG VII, is seeking assistance to implement these two phases. The purpose of the fifth phase is to bring the existing ECCAIRS system to a consolidated operational level by extending the following functions across ten EU Member States: - The collection and integration of data; - Maintaining the system; - Optimising performance; - Converting the ADREP87 format to ADREP2000; - Establishing a data analysis work group; - Carrying out feasibility studies for future development. The sixth phase will further expand and improve the system by extending over fifteen Member States the following aspects: the collection and integration of data, the maintenance of the system, the operational introduction of ADREP 2000 and the setting up of a connection with ICAO.
