With over 200 registered participants the 7th ScanBalt Forum and Biomaterials Days in Vilnius, Lithuania, September 24 - 26, provides a great opportunity to network, initiate new projects and start a dialogue with policy makers and key figures in ScanBalt BioRegion. Dr. Daumantas Matulis, Institute of Biotechnology in Lithuania, the scientific leader of the Forum says: “We are happy to host the Forum in Vilnius and welcome here the renowned scientists, industry representatives and participants from all over the world. The Forum is a great possibility to present the biotechnology and anticancer research in Lithuania and foster new collaborations”. This year the ScanBalt Forum is joined with ScanBalt Biomaterials days, originally initiated by Prof. Heimo Ylänen, Director of Turku Biomaterials Centre, Finland, who says: “The first event was held in Turku, Finland in September 2007 with 100 delegates from 11 countries. Encouraged by the success, we decided to continue with ScanBalt Biomaterials Days as a parallel session together with the annual ScanBalt Forum. This year in Vilnius we offer an extensive and stimulating program “. Hans-Robert Metelmann, Professor at Greifswald University, Chairman of ScanBalt, adds: “The ScanBalt Forum provides an effective platform for networking between regions and strengthens the bridges between industry and academia.
