By an exchange of letters of 4 May 1987, the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) and the EEC agreed on arrangements for mutual cooperation, to be reviewed by the two parties after three years. By a new exchange of letters dated 27 August 1990 and 8 October 1990, the two parties have agreed to continue on the basis of the existing terms, with the stipulation that: "Either party may request a review of this agreement at any time subject to giving six months' notice."
