Ideal-ist - the worldwide ICT support Network is in Pole position for the 7th Call
Call 7 of the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) ICT Work Programme 2011-12 was published on 28 September 2010. In this context, research project proposals addressing the Objectives open in the 8 Challenges of the ICT-2011 may be submitted until 17h00 on Tuesday, 18 January 2011. Support for the proposers can be expected by the well-established NCP network Ideal-ist, which aims to help proposers to facilitate a higher average quality of submitted proposals. “Partnering is very conservative - newcomers involve higher risk at both the proposal and project stages. To overcome these problems newcomers must become known to coordinators through networking in the research environment, and demonstrate their collaborative skills in practice. Then the necessary trust is built over years.” says Ideal-ist Project Manager Mohsine Chefki and highlights also the success of Ideal-ist in the 7th Frameworksprogramm - A success rate of almost 100% could be observed. This means almost every proposer who launched a partner search via Ideal-ist, found a key partner for his project. And this is exactly what Ideal-ist aims at: to support proposers to find the right partners for projects while building a consortium. After filling in the project ideas in the application form proposers will receive valuable feedback from the Quality Team that can be used to improve the whole project idea. Every proposer receives an average of 35 responses from interested partners with the intension of joining the consortium. This unique feature distinguishes Ideal-ist from most other available partner search facilities; it is proven by providing its services for 14 years! Projects ideas that had been quality checked and quality labelled by the National Contact Points (NCPs) supported by the Idealist quality team performed much better in the European Commission’s evaluation than the ones published without the quality label. In addition to the well-established partner search tool Ideal-ist also offers via an own brokerage tool networking possibilities such as pre-scheduled face2face meetings at EC events or Info Days. This enables registered proposers to promote their know-how and skills, their research interests and business needs online. Within the ICT2010 in Brussels Ideal-ist offered a Brokerage Event by using this new brokerage tool. “Find your ICT PARTNERS face2face at the ICT2010” was organised in collaboration with the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) to enable the participants to facilitate the setup of FP7 project consortia. More than 170 participants from over 27 countries worldwide have been registered and were matched by this event specific brokerage tool. This possibility will especially help Newcomers to reduce barriers to future participation and they can be connected with successful proposers that have already gained previous project experience. Furthermore, Ideal-ist, gives guidance to newcomers and less experienced organisations on how to get started in FP7. Ideal-ist offers support on how to overcome obstacles, which obstruct participation, such as lack of experience and a lack of contacts and awareness. Once these obstacles are overcome and a project proposer participates in a funded project, many barriers to future participation are reduced
