The 4th RENEXPO® Austria working to promote the Austrian energy strategy in Salzbourg, Austria

With its ambitious energy strategy, Austria is striving to reach its bold climate protection goals, reduce its dependence on energy imports and give the economy and the job market a healthy boost. Austria's energy policy has been set up on three basic foundations - improvements to energy efficiency, reduction of energy consumption and the expansion of renewable energies.

Austria's own energy minister Reinhold Mitterlehner confirmed in March of 2012 that, “In order to achieve the goals of Austria's energy strategy and the requirements of the European Union, we must use energy more efficiently in all sectors.” The consequential improvement of energy efficiency is the key to Austria's energy and climate policy and must be applied to areas such as buildings, energy consumption in homes and businesses, efficient mobility, efficient primary energy use and residual heat recovery. The expansion of renewable energies has huge consequences for Austria's national energy supply, and it also helps create new highly qualified jobs, strengthen Austria on the international market and is a vital necessity to reaching the goals of the energy and climate policy. The 4th RENEXPO® Austria builds on this concept with its new trade fair and conference concept and offers new impulses for the Austrian energy strategy. “The energy trade fair and conference RENEXPO® Austria is the only conference and trade fair in Austria that offers such a broad range of energy topics and presents so many different themes such as hydropower, photovoltaics or cogeneration as the leading event for these sectors in Austria,” confirms Jasna Röhm, the project manager of the event. Along with its classic topics, the RENEXPO® Austria offers new innovative technologies each year. In 2012, the focus of the trade fair will be on the innovative topics of “hydropower”, “building integrated photovoltaics” and “sustainable building systems (plus-energy houses)” with three international industry forums taking up these future oriented themes. An increasing number of exhibitors, visitors and conference participants from Austria and neighboring countries are expected in this segment. Switzerland will serve as the official partner nation of this year's RENEXPO® Austria. The highlighted trade fair section “International Hydropower Exhibition” as part of the RENEXPO® Austria has grown into the top European platform for small and midsize hydropower and will be further expanded in 2012. All the topics involved in hydropower will be represented at the RENEXPO® Austria - from machines and components to new technologies and the maintenance and reactivation of existing facilities. The “4th International Small Hydropower Conference: New Construction, Renovation and Revitalization”, which has quickly become one of the most important international small hydropower events, will once again take place as part of the trade fair in collaboration with the European Small Hydropower Association (ESHA). With its second key theme of “photovoltaics”, the RENEXPO® Austria will once again offer companies in the photovoltaics sector a high quality platform in Austria following the huge success of last year's event. Photovoltaic energy makes up an important part of Austria's economy and plays a vital role in the energy shift. This key part of the energy strategy will be discussed in the two day international conference “PV-Skin Industry Forum for Building Integrated Photovoltaics” which highlights the topic of building integrated photovoltaics. Over 200 international experts are expected to participate in the forum. The “energy-plus house” or the “house of the future” as a provider of heat and power is the third key theme of the RENEXPO® Austria. The idea behind this revolutionary concept involves using extra energy that these kinds of houses produce and storing it, in electric cars for example, or feeding it back into the power grid via a smart grid system. Different sectors are required to work together and combine new insights in the areas of chemistry, IT, energy research and material sciences to create this new generation of sustainable houses. The “1st International Meeting on the House of the Future – the Energy-Plus House” will go into more depth and explore the issues and challenges surrounding this topic. The energy trade fair RENEXPO® Austria has also developed into a central meeting point for energy consultants. As part of the “4th Austrian Energy Advisor Day”, experts from all over Austria and Bavaria convene to exchange information and experiences. Over 500 energy consultants used the 2011 RENEXPO® Austria to gain up to date insights into their field. Current information on building laws and regulations is offered at the conference “EU Energy Certificate” which is presented by the energy consultants of the Austrian state of Salzburg. Additional highlights of the conference program include the 2nd Austrian Conference for Mini and Micro Cogeneration, the 4th Austrian Heat Pump Forum, the 1st Conference on Smart Cities – City of the Future and the 3rd Austrian Mayor Day. Experts and decision makers will meet at over 70 events such as conferences, seminars, workshops and forums to discuss promising new innovations, future trends, the newest technologies and practical solutions. The 4th RENEXPO® Austria will take place from November 29th to December 1st, 2012 in the Messe Salzburg. Further information on the trade fair is available at
