Call for Papers: 21. International Forum on Advanced Microsystems for Automotive Applications (AMAA 2017) "Smart Systems Transforming the Automobile"

Leading engineers and scholars from all around the world are cordially invited to participate in the AMAA 2017 on 25-26 September 2017 in Berlin, Germany, and to submit proposals for papers addressing ongoing research and novel developments in the field of automotive ICT, electronics and smart systems. Deadline for abstracts: 7 April 2017. www.amaa.de

The ambitious goals of climate protection, (energy) efficiency, air quality and road safety in combination with current trends in society and economy require restless innovation in sustainable and inclusive road transport solutions. Recent breakthroughs in electric and electronic components and systems, clean propulsion, automation, connectivity, IT-driven business models and user centric design promise viable opportunities for the automobile to meet those challenges. However, it is foreseeable that additional principles will even further transform mobility in the next five to ten years: Big data analysis, e.g. is already crucial for automation and will further enable cities to better respond to traffic issues, the Internet of Things will improve connected driving and together with blockchain facilitate mobility-as-a-service, robots and artificial intelligence will make human drivers obsolete not only in passenger cars but potentially in all road vehicles. The grand challenge will be to exploit these new technologies and at the same time adapt to changing demands on road transport. “Smart Systems Transforming the Automobile” will be at the heart of the answer to these partly disrupting changes. Thus, this will be the topic of this year’s 21st edition of the International Forum on Advanced Microsystems for Automotive Applications (AMAA). The forum’s ongoing mission has been to detect novel trends in automotive ICT, electronics and smart systems and to discuss the technological implications from early on, and will thus be continued also in this edition. Key topics of the AMAA 2017 include: How to realise the transformed automobile? For example next generation vehicular platforms, disruptive architectures, artificial intelligence, modularisation strategies for purpose built vehicles, integration into IoT, smart infrastructure, cloud services and backends, multistandard communication, smart production, additive manufacturing, etc. How to reliably perceive vehicular environments in complex scenarios? E.g. new sensors, multi-sensor concepts, data fusion, energy-efficient vehicular computing, machine-learning based perception, high-precision positioning, etc. How to tailor human-machine interaction in automated vehicles? For example HMI design for high automation levels, handover concepts, driver monitoring, interaction with VRUs, intention recognition, etc. How to guarantee data privacy and security? For example competing challenges of functional safety and data security, secure (wireless) communication, authentication, key management, novel concepts from hard- and software, etc. How to support functional safety levels for and validation of fully automated vehicles? For example fail-operational systems, novel E/E architectures, design-for-safety, X-in-the-loop, validation of non-deterministic/learning systems, etc. How to facilitate energy efficiency, minimise pollutant emissions and maximise electric range? E.g. smart engine sensors and controllers, novel hybrid and E-motors & control strategies, smart battery management systems, efficient power electronics, holistic/predictive energy optimisation, etc. Donwload the call for papers from: www.amaa.de
