Smart Systems Investment Game: Your Needs, our currency

In the framework of the EU-funded project inSSIght, a survey in form of an investment game has been developed with the aim to identify the main “features” that products and services in 7 sectors shall integrate in order to respond to future challenges and megatrends.

Digitisation, ageing well, urbanisation & mobility, sharing economy, global economy, climate change & resource scarcity are the current megatrends setting the requirements for competitive products and services. inSSIght helps R& teams to shape future smart products and to co-determine which features and properties are worth investing in! In order to investigate the needs of all interest groups and sectors, and to support the match with solutions based on smart systems, an investment game has been developed, which is accessible online: http://www.smart-systems-integration.org/public/news-events/news/inssight-survey-on-smart-features/inssight-survey-on-smart-features Each “player” choses a sector (Transport & Mobility, Health & Wellbeing, IoT & Communications, Manufacturing, Energy, Natural Resources (incl. Agrofood), Safety & Security) and makes investments in the following features (personalised, autonomous, real time, efficient & effective, Integrative & cognitive, safe, secure & reliable), which he/she considers as bringing high added value and competitive advantages to future products. inSSIght will use the investments made by the players to match the identified needs with the capabilities of Smart Systems in order to enable innovative solutions for integration in future products and services. White Papers focusing on the respective innovation priorities will be published accordingly to guide the community of European suppliers of Smart Systems solutions. About inSSIght The EU-funded Coordination and Support Action inSSIght (GA 731665) aims to support and complement R&I activities in Smart Systems Integration (SSI) by structuring industrial cooperation and facilitating end-user adoption for the next generations of miniaturised smart objects and systems. Previous projects have revealed the immense breadth of SSI in its technology demands, its application sectors, its business ramifications, its provider and user communities, and have commenced the task of joining all these aspects for concerted action. They have also developed support tools, whose proven value can continue to be instrumental in inSSIght. Building on the above and supporting the strategic activities of EPoSS, the role for inSSIght is to deepen and implant this understanding through a cadre of influential partners from SSI-related clusters, research institutes and industries who will define and encourage actions to unlock and exploit innovation opportunities, provide practice-oriented support to the SSI ecosystem, underline the vital position of SSI as a Key Enabling Technology for competitive advantage and future innovation, and give credit to their enabling role as building blocks in sectors with high potential for growth and high return on investment, such as IoT, Industry 4.0 electric mobility, automated driving, smart medical devices etc. The Coordination and Support Action inSSIght has started on 1st January 2017 for a 2-year duration and has received funding from the European Community‘s programme Horizon 2020 under GA number: 731665 www.inSSIght.eu (under construction)
