With regard to European Telecommunications Standards (NET) the Commission publishes in compliance with Council Directive 86/361/EEC of 24.7.1986 advice on the initial stage of the mutual recognition of type approval for telecommunications terminal equipment. The listed standards, "Normes Europeenes de Telecommunications" (NETs) are to be applied in all Member States by the competent authorities (for examinations carried out or for type approval) and by telecommunications administrations (when purchasing equipment): - NET 3 (ISDN basic access); - NET 5 (ISDN primary rate access); - NET 20 (PSTN modems, basic requirements); - NET 21 (V21 modem); - NET 22 (V22 modem); - NET 23 (V22 bis modem); - NET 24 (V23 modem); - NET 33 (ISDN 3.1 kHz telephony, handset terminals).
