Tecnalia achieves the prestigious NadCap accreditation from the aeronautical sector for Chemical Processes (CP) and Materials Testing (MTL)

Tecnalia Research & Innovation has received the NadCap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) accreditation, which accredit the company´s technical competence as testing laboratory for control of Surface Treatment Baths (CP) and also as Testing on Metal Materials (MTL) – mechanical, metallography and corrosion testing – in the aeronautical sector.

NadCap accreditations constitute an international recognition of technical competence and readability to provide products and services in the aeronautical sector. This prestigious accreditation is granted by the Performance Review Institute (PRI), a worldwide organisation comprising the main aircraft manufacturers like AIRBUS, BOEING, BOMBARDIER or GE Aviation, whose main objective is to develop programs and services designed to improve the product manufacturing processes and quality processes in the aeronautical sector. The PRI guarantees the unbiased assessment of these products and services, ensuring that the suppliers of the aeronautics sector can meet the complex requirements of their customers. Tecnalia is thus consolidating its positioning as a benchmark laboratory internationally in the aeronautical sector owing to the high quality of its services involving the characterization of materials, which is constantly growing and seeing its technologies expanding. Although Tecnalia already has AIRBUS authorization, it is now an internationally recognised, independent and impartial organisation and one that accredits its technical competence and excellence of its activity in control of Surface Treatment Baths (CP) and Testing on metal materials (MTL) – mechanical testing, metallography and corrosion. This new accreditation signifies Tecnalia’s continued commitment to quality and safety through compliance with the customer's requirements and the specifications of the aeronautical industry. Tecnalia´s technological services in the aerospace sector, in which it has been working for the last 20 years, comprise characterisation of materials, non destructive testing (NDT), failure analysis, materials assessment and diagnosis, welding processes and comprehensive outsourcing of calibration. “The NadCap accreditation is an important step in our strategy for specialisation within the business of materials characterisation and in generating new business opportunities for our clients,” said Jose Miguel Iturrioz, Head of Tecnalia’s Materials Services Area.
