The Commission of the European Communities publishes a call for expressions of interest concerning research and technical assistance for the implementation of Community initiatives to combat social exclusion. A list of contractors will be established and, via future restricted calls for tender, listed contractors will be invited to submit detailed proposals for the assistance of a number of Community initiatives. These may require the Commission to call on technical or scientific assistance from organizations or individual consultants with recognized experience and qualifications, and include: - The implementation of programmes involving support for innovation and transnational exchanges of experiences (pilot projects and networks of players acting at European level); - The identification of good practices and the concerns and priorities common to Member States' actions and policies; - Improvement of the understanding of the circumstances and mechanisms which lead to social exclusion (national and transnational studies aimed at supporting actions in this field); - Stimulation of the debate and the raising of public awareness (information campaigns and the organization of media events and European conferences or seminars). Further specifications of work requirements at European and national levels, and of the presentation of proposals, are set out in the call. Proposals should be submitted to: Commission of the European Communities DG V Attn. Mrs. O. Quintin Chef de Division, DG V/C-1 (80 Cortenberg building, Office 2/66) 200 rue de la Loi B-1049 Brussels
