The Commission of the European Communities invites proposals for accompanying measures in the context of ESPRIT, the specific programme of research and development in the field of information technologies. The measures comprise the European System and Software Initiative (ESSI), which aims to promote improvements in the software development process in industry in order to achieve greater efficiency and higher quality through the application of state-of-the-art management practices, methodologies and tools in software engineering over a wide range of industries. ESSI covers three domains: Application experiments; - Dissemination actions; - Education and training.
