Opportunity to review studies on regeneration and incineration of waste oils
A critical review of existing studies and life cycle analysis on the regeneration and incineration of waste oils is required by the European Commission in the context of the European waste management policy. Special attention should be given to recent studies, studies assessing new technologies, studies assessing costs involved, studies addressing the limits of regeneration, and studies setting a comparison between regeneration and incineration of waste oils. There should be a critical review (assessment of assumptions, databases used, ISO standard applied and so on) of existing life cycle analysis comparing the regeneration to the incineration of waste oils in terms of environmental impacts, resource management and sensitivity analysis. A final assessment of the different possible scenarios should also be given, providing general conclusions that are applicable to all Member States.
