Typifying scientific advisory structures and advice production methodologies
The European Commission's Research DG has given prior notification of a call for tenders for a study on typifying scientific advisory structures and scientific advice production methodologies. As national and EU policy rely increasingly on scientific knowledge for their design and implementation, the need to understand the process better by which scientific advice is produced and used is growing. Efforts should rapidly be undertaken to exchange good practice and more generally to enhance the EU scientific advice system. The study should contribute to these efforts and will have the following three main objectives: - identify and typify, in EU countries, applicant countries and institutions, the organisations and structures involved in the production of scientific advice requested by public authorities in support of decision making; - analyse and typify the methodologies used by these organisations. Compare the results with current practices in the US, Canada and Japan - extract good practices and suggest a possible set of practices that could be useful in formulating guidelines for production and use of scientific advice in Europe. The estimated value for the total procurement is 225,000 euro to 275,000 euro.
