RTD programme in communication technologies
The Commission submitted on 14 December 1990 (COM(90) 675) an amendment to the proposal for a Council Decision on a specific RTD programme in the field of communication technologies (OJ No C 174 of 16.7.1990). The amendment contains several detailed changes in wording and content proposed by the European Parliament. Inter alia; Programme duration is to be from the date of publication of the Decision in the Official Journal until 31 December 1994; the exact financial contribution to be made to centralized activities is no longer specified; Area 1 shall build on and extend the RACE programme; prenormative telecommunications standardization work should cover as many third countries as possible; the requirement of pan-European access to IBC and radio networks is emphasized; Community financial participation in projects retained by the exceptional procedure has been reduced from a maximum of 15% to a maximum of 10%.
