A publication is now available setting out the full list of projects selected for funding after the first call for proposals made by the AIR programme, the specific programme of research and technological development in the field of agriculture and agro-industry, including fisheries (1991-1994). More than 760 proposals were received in response to the call (published in the Official Journal on 10 October 1991). These involved a total of 4,600 participants requesting Community funding in the region of ECU 999 million. As this was more than seven times the Community budget available, it was necessary to make a stringent selection from among the proposals, resulting in the acceptance of 103 projects. The 150-page catalogue introduces the AIR programme and describes the aims and objectives of each of the different RTD Areas which compose it. For each of the projects, information provided includes a description of the specific objectives, the name and address of the coordinator and of the participants, the type of proposal (concerted action, shared-cost action, or demonstration project), its duration, reference number, name, and the name of the Commission scientific officer who is responsible for managing the contract. Annexes include contact details for the members of the AIR Regulatory Committee, an index of keywords, and a listing of contact information for each participant.
