The Council and Ministers for Education adopted on 6 December 1990 a Resolution calling for the reinforcement of the EURYDICE education information network as the chief provider of information on national and Community educational structures, systems and developments. Member States and the Commission are requested to improve the collection and processing of information through the effective use of new technologies and to foster cooperation between the units of the network and other relevant services. The Commission is further requested to strengthen the EURYDICE European unit's coordinating role by feeding the network's databanks and encouraging the preparation and dissemination of information. With assistance from the Member States this unit should develop a computerized information system in the field of education. Its links with, inter alia, the CEDEFOP and NARIC centres and the ARION scheme for study visits should also be strengthened.
