Environmental study: Alqueva
The Commission has issued a call for tenders to undertake a comprehensive study of the environmental impact of the Alqueva dam, Portugal. The integrated study required should provide a summary of the environmental impacts of the scheme as well as the measures proposed to offset the negative impacts, and the financial costs of these measures. The area to be studied is the region under the influence of the Alqueva dam (Alentejo and Algarve) and should cover: Alqueva; the lower storage dam; the dam on the Guadiana; the estuary; the desertification process.
