The Commission (DG XIII) has issued a call for tenders for the undertaking of two studies, to be launched in the near future, in preparation for a "Green Paper on Future Policy for Telecommunications Infrastructure and Cable TV Networks". The studies are: - Requirements for the development of a multimedia environment based on telecommunications infrastructure and cable TV networks: To examine the impediments (regulatory, technical, financial) to the successful development of multimedia services in the European Community. - Investment requirements for Europe to achieve convergence: To assess the investment required to upgrade or develop networks to provide commercially viable multimedia services both for business and for residential use. Tenderers may apply to participate in one or both of the studies. In the case of group bidders, tenders may be submitted individually or jointly.
