Financial and technical cooperation with the Occupied Territories: Commission proposal
In a recent proposal for a Council Regulation, the Commission has outlined new measures for economic and social cooperation with the Palestinian people. The cooperation will take the form of a five-year programme covering the period 1994-1998. The priority areas for projects and measures implemented under the programme shall be: infrastructure, production, urban and rural development, education, health, the environment, services, foreign trade and the improvement of institutions necessary for the proper working of public administration. Community aid may also be given for investment projects, feasibility studies, technical assistance as well as training. The European Union's financial support for operations covered by the proposed Regulation shall be in the form of grants.
