Regional development related to data communication (TELEMATIQUE)
On 25 January 1991 the Commission launched an initiative (TELEMATIQUE) for the development of data communications in Objective 1 regions (regions where development is lagging). Loans and grants are available for measures included in operational programmes of Member States. The aim is to promote the use of telecommunication services and improve access to advanced services located elsewhere in the Community, amplifying processes begun by the STAR programme and assisting SMEs to initiate or develop such services.
