The European Commission has issued a call for tenders for a study entitled "Determination of cost-effective plastic wastes management in the EU: objectives and instruments for the year 2000" to determine the optimal combination between incineration and recycling of plastic wastes from an ecological as well as an economic point of view. The aim of the proposed study is to identify the most cost-effective instruments to implement the strategy for the year 2000.
