The European Commission has issued an open invitation to tender for studies in the field of transport. Areas include: - Strategic research: Studies of databases and scenarios, strategic modelling and assessment, and cost-benefit plus multi-criteria analysis for new transport infrastructure; - Rail transport: Continuation of the activities in support of interoperability already initiated under the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS); - Integrated transport chains: A study to integrate technology developments and socio-economic aspects into a one-system approach, with special reference to the Alpine region; - Waterborne transport: Studies in the field of vessel traffic management and information systems, human resources, competitiveness of European maritime transport and inland waterway transport systems; - Road transport: Studies into investment organization and financial scenarios, modelling and evaluation methodologies, vehicle crashworthiness; - Urban transport: Studies into public transport utilization, modelling, social influences and resulting effects, pricing and financing, and new market-oriented transport systems.
