BIOTECH: Socio-economic impacts of biotechnology
The European Commission has issued a call for proposals for scientific studies providing detailed information on specific aspects of the socio-economic impacts of biotechnology research. In respect of the principle of subsidiarity, these studies should focus on the European or wider international dimension rather than on national issues, i.e. preference will be given to the internationalization of activities already established at the national level. A budget of ECU 1.8 million is foreseen for the implementation of these accompanying measures. Detailed information, including a list of examples of possible topics for studies, and the requirements to be fulfilled are available from the Commission services: European Commission DG XII/E-1 Biotechnology 200 rue de la Loi (SDME 2/58) B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2955365
