The European Commission, DG XII, has issued a call for proposals relating to one component of a pilot action in the field of open and distance learning. The call is made in coordination with related calls for proposals concerning those components of the action which are to be managed respectively by Directorate-General XIII and the Task Force Human Resources, Education, Training and Youth (TFHR). The pilot action is being launched to demonstrate and develop the possibilities for practical and effective open and distance education and training across the European Union via demonstration projects linking the fields of education/training, research and telematics. The call issued by DG XII concerns the components of methodological and psychopedagogical research. This part of the project is specifically aimed at preparing the activities that will be developed in this field, within the scope of the "research on education and formation" component of the future specific programme in the field of finalized social and economic research, within the Fourth Framework Programme of Community technological research and development (1994-1998).
