The European Commission has published a call for tenders for the provision of support services for the organization of MT-Summit V, the fifth world conference on machine translation. MT-Summit V will take place in Luxembourg in July 1995. It is expected to bring together developers, suppliers and actual and potential users of machine-translation systems for a three-day conference, preceded by a tutorial and accompanied by an exhibition demonstrating the state of the art of the evolving language technology. Since 1975, the Commission has been much involved in computer-aided translation, through the development and use of an operational machine-translation system and through a high-level linguistic research project. For these reasons the International Association for Machine Translation (IAMT) accepted the Commission's offer to organize the 1995 conference.
