Commission calls for study in ICT standardisation needs
The European Commission's Enterprise and Industry DG has published a call for tenders for a study on the specific policy needs for information and communication technologies (ICT) standardisation. In its communication to the European Parliament and the Council on 'The role of European standardisation in the framework of European policies and legislation' in 2004, the Commission announced that it would initiate a strategic review of standardisation policy in the ICT domain. The Commission therefore intends to launch a single service contract to provide the appropriate input to the review. Taking into account the rapidly evolving ICT market, the study should identify the requirements for an efficient ICT standardisation policy responding to the new needs, and better involving all relevant ICT stakeholders. The contract is a service contract, aiming at the provision of a study to analyse the present state of Europe's ICT standardisation policy, and bringing forward recommendations for its future development. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry Attn: Costas Andropoulos Avenue d'Auderghem 45 - 06/66 B-1040 Brussels Tel: +32-2 295 6601 Fax: +32-2 296 7019 E-mail: entr-innov-ict-ebiz@cec.eu.int To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.publications.eu.int/udl?REQUEST=Seek-Deliver&LANGUAGE=en&DOCID=153420-2005(opens in new window)
