Based on an initiative by DG XVII (Energy Technology) of the European Commission, a new newsletter has been launched by the THERMIE programme for the promotion of new and innovative energy technologies. The first issue of the newsletter, entitled "THERMIE Journal -Renewable Energy", provides an overview of the THERMIE programme and highlights new developments. The publication is a joint project of the Organizations for the Promotion of Energy Technologies (OPET), managed by ADEME and ETSU, in collaboration with Systemes Solaires in France and The Franklin Company Consultants Ltd in the UK. The journal will be published quarterly and distributed throughout the OPET network and the Energy Centres and will be inserted in the journals "Systemes Solaires" and "Sun at work in Europe". The aim of the publication is to provide information about the advances and applications of renewable energies in Europe: solar photovoltaic, thermal, wind, biomass, hydro and geothermal energy. The first issue includes an interview, an event report, updates relating to projects, industry, policy and technology, an OPET profile, and the latest OPET news.
