Proposal for Council Directive on safety and health requirements for work equipment
The Commission has published a proposal for a Council Directive amending Directive 89/655/EEC on the minimum safety and health requirements for the use of work equipment by workers. The proposed Directive lays down minimum requirements concerning the inspection of work equipment and provides for the addition to the Annex of supplementary requirements to work equipment. Member States are encouraged to facilitate implementation of the measures by small and medium-sized enterprises. These measures may include training and information activities and the introduction of standard inspection programmes.
