Council meeting on health
A meeting of the Council of Ministers for Health took place in Luxembourg on 2 June 1994. A number of issues relating to medical research and development were discussed. The Council adopted a common position on the Commission's proposal to extend the "Europe against AIDS" programme for two years (1994 and 1995). It also adopted a Resolution on cardiovascular diseases. The resolution included the coordination of measures to take advantage of other Community programmes, particularly in the field of research. The Commission presented its proposal for a third action plan for cancer. The dossier has been referred to the Council's Health Group for consultation. The Commission also briefly introduced its proposal on health promotion and informed the Council about progress on the issue of drugs.
