The European Commission, Directorate-General for Industry (DG III) has published an invitation to tender to support its current activity of analysis and policies development in the field of information technology. DG III needs information services which analyse the strategic trends and the factors influencing information industry development and the application and use of information technology (IT). Current and up-to-date information is essential for the design and implementation of relevant policies. The Commission intends to subscribe to services which will support EC strategy definition in the field of IT. The services will address the various sectors of the IT industry (computing, communications, software), and the application areas (CIM, mobile communications, electronics, services to industry, office information systems, etc.). They will provide analysis of the technological evolution which could influence the evolution of the industry, the products and the appearance of new players. They will also provide views on global concepts such as multimedia and distributed systems and services. The services will be provided in the form of regular reports and will guarantee the Commission access to experts for consultation.
