Evaluation of the DOSES programme
The DOSES programme (Development of Statistical Expert Systems) was set up by the Community in 1989 as part of the Second Framework Programme for research and development. Its aim was to carry out exploratory work to identify how official statistics can be helped by certain data-processing techniques. The European Community's Statistical Office, Eurostat, has now published an overview of the DOSES programme, entitled "DOSES: Its evaluation, its results, its future". The publication looks at the software, the prototypes and the models which are used in new techniques and highlights areas for future research and development.
