The Ispra Joint Research Centre has published an open call for tender for an electron microscope operating in the intermediate accelerating voltage range (200 to 300 kV). The microscope must have a resolution of 0.2 nm or better (the declared resolution must be demonstrated by the supplier at the site on installation). The instrumentation must comprise: (a) a basic electron column and vacuum system; (b) a scanning transmission imaging attachment; (c) an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer for the detection of light elements down to boron; (d) an electron energy loss spectrometer permitting parallel spectrum acquisition and digital low loss imaging; (e) a CCD camera and monitor; (f) electronic systems, computer hardware and software for control of the above equipment, image processing and data handling; (g) any other available optional accessories for the examination of advanced metallic alloys, ceramics and composite material.
