A third call for proposals for the Measurements and Testing programme was published in December 1993 (OJ No C 338 of 15.12 1993). Two areas of the programme are covered, namely support for standardization (area 2) and commons means of calibration (area 3). The proposals were evaluated by independent experts in the second half of April 1994 and the list of priority projects was submitted to the Advisory Committee on 2 June 1994. A total of 412 proposals were received, requesting a total funding of ECU 145 million. The 371 eligible proposals were evaluated by eight groups of experts and covered four main sectors (number of proposals in parentheses): - Biology (79); - Chemical testing (106); - Physical testing (119); - Metrology (67). The opinion of the Advisory Committee on the selection of projects to be funded has been sought and the Commission has prepared a proposal which is currently being examined. The final decision on the projects accepted for funding will be taken before August 1994, with contract negotiations taking place thereafter. The proposers will receive information on the results of the evaluation of their projects before September.
