Following adoption of the specific programme on advanced communications technologies and services (ACTS)(1994-1998), and in preparation for a call for proposals, the European Commission is launching a call for expressions of interest in the programme. ACTS, the successor to the RACE programme, addresses the following areas of research, technological development and demonstration: - Interactive digital multimedia systems and services; - Photonic technologies; - High-speed networking; - Mobility and personal communications networks; - Intelligence in networks and services engineering; - Quality, security and safety of communications services and systems; - Horizontal actions. There will be an ACTS Proposers/National Hosts Conference on 19-20 October 1994 in Madrid. The last day for registration for this conference is 31 August 1994. Over the years the Commission has accumulated a large number of addresses of persons who have expressed an interest in participating in the RACE programme. This list will be used for the call for expressions of interest.
