EU-China technology cooperation
The European Union is constantly endeavouring to develop and promote more efficient use of energy resources and the technologies to exploit these resources. In this context, the European Commission hosted an "EU-China Energy Industry Conference" on 17 March 1994 in Brussels. The programme was organized in the context of the programme of energy cooperation between the Commission's Directorate-General for Energy (DG XVII) and the State Science and Technology Commission of the People's Republic of China. Such cooperation with China aims to advance China's energy policy formulation and energy practices. The conference dealt with clean coal, combustion, electricity and hydrocarbons and resulted in several agreements and joint ventures. The papers from the conference have now been published by the Commission and provide a very useful reference work for future industrial cooperation projects in the area of clean coal, electricity and hydrocarbons between China and the European Union.
