The European Commission, DG XI, has published a call for proposals for a study the field of waste management, concerning the management of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment. The study aims at developing a strategy for the management of wastes coming from end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment in the European Community. The study will draw upon information and data available at national or regional level, from the national or regional institutions, industries, commerce, and any other instance closely related to the domain under consideration. The analysis should concentrate both on the technical or technological levels and take into account the associated economic aspects. Options and consequent strategies for the management of the end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment are to be drawn up in relation to a timeframe. The whole study must be completed within 12 months from the date on which the contract is signed.
