A Resolution of the European Parliament of 25 January 1991, published in OJ No C 48 of 25.2.1991 (which became available in May 1991), on "the European dimension at university level, with particular reference to teacher and student mobility", concerns the COMETT, ERASMUS, LINGUA and TEMPUS programmes. Parliament welcomes their success, particularly in promoting the mobility of students and teachers/lecturers in higher education. This represents a Community-wide effort to provide the best training for the future European workforce, prepares students directly for the completion of the internal market and contributes actively to the development of a sense of European citizenship. Inter alia, Parliament proposes that the Commission draw up an optimization strategy to eliminate the shortcomings of existing programmes and include them in a multiannual general framework programme for higher education administered by a single consultative committee, also coordinating with programmes such as FORCE and EUROTECHNET.
