HELIOS II competition and awards

The European Commission will organize competitions throughout 1995 and award prizes within the framework of the HELIOS II programme. HELIOS II is aimed at promoting equal opportunities for, and the integration of, disabled people. The prizes will be awarded to those projects in the EU Member States judged to represent good and innovative practice related to the following themes: - Functional rehabilitation; - Educational integration; - Economic integration; - Social integration; - New technologies for disabled people. To be eligible for the HELIOS II competitions, projects must have the objectives of ensuring: - Equal opportunities; - Integration; - Participation; - Public awareness; - Innovation; - Transferability; - Quality. The competitions will be open to any project within the EU which meets the selection criteria. There will be three European prizes per theme, consisting of a medal accompanied by a plaque and a certificate. The prizes will be awarded to the winners at a conference which will take place in Brussels in early December 1995.
