The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender for technical support services in the area of the information industry and market and language processing. The services include the provision of technical support for Community programme activities in the areas of language engineering, information engineering and electronic publishing and libraries, as well as the area of the information industry and market. The Commission is responsible for the design, planning, management and execution of these activities. The work is expected to start from mid-1995 onwards. The lots comprise: - Continuous subject-specialist support in the following areas: . Information engineering and electronic publishing; . Libraries; . Language engineering; . The information content industries and markets; - Ad hoc technical expert services for specific support actions, for example evaluation methodologies, programme review; state-of-the-art reports and preparatory reports for new actions; - Continuous technical support in programme-level tasks, such as compiling documentation, inventories and general information materials; diffusion of these materials, including a help-desk function, and technical and organizational support for workshops, conferences, meetings and exhibitions. The above tasks will include the necessary provision of infrastructure, namely office space and equipment, contract management, clerical assistance for managing documentation and archives and data entry, secretarial support, budget provision for travel missions, expenses for meetings, workshops, exhibition equipment and other printed materials. The services will be required to be made available at a location which permits close and frequent contacts with the relevant staff of the Commission's services in Luxembourg. The contractors' computing equipment will need to be compatible with the Commission's infrastructure.
