Software and reference manual for water and agro-chemicals simulation model (WAVE)
The reference manual and software for a mathematical model simulating the movement of water and the transfer and fate of agro-chemicals in crops and soils, the WAVE model, is now available as a commercial product. Two projects from DG XII's STEP programme for RTD in the field of the environment (STEP 0034 and 0032) played a leading role in the elaboration of the WAVE model. The model can be used to simulate the effect of farming practices and other land uses on the quality of soils and ground water and can be used as a tool for evaluation policies regarding the use of fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides.
