The first call for proposals for the specific programme for Transport, under the Fourth Framework Programme, resulted in 334 proposals being received. This represents requests for funding which are five times greater than the amount allocated for the call, namely ECU 120-144 million. As the first specific programme dedicated to transport, this represents a considerable level of interest. The first call for Transport was published on 17 January 1995. The evaluation procedure will be completed by 12 April 1995, after which the selected proposals will be submitted to the programme committee for final selection. The likely date for successful proposers to be notified is early June. The second call for proposals for the Transport programme will be published on 15 September 1995 and will cover the same areas as the first call. These are: - Strategic research; - Rail transport; - Integrated transport chains; - Air transport; - Urban transport; - Water-borne transport; - Road transport.
