The specific programme for targeted socio-economic research held a successful information day in Brussels on 28 March 1995. The event was attended by approximately 280 representatives from interested institutes, research organizations and enterprises from all the Member States. The first call for proposals for the specific programme for targeted socio-economic research (Areas I, II, III, excluding areas I.4 and III.5) was published on 15 March 1995 (OJ No C 64) and closes on 8 June 1995. So far, over 4,700 expressions of interest in the programme have been received. Within the scope of the targeted socio-economic research programme, the Commission also launched a call for expressions of interest for membership of the European Technology Assessment Network (ETAN) in parallel with the first call for proposals. ETAN is designed to bring together researchers and users of technology assessment. Members of the network will contribute and receive information about activities in the field and have the opportunity to take part in and/or organize seminars, conferences and other activities aimed at the exchange of information and experiences, dissemination of good practice and provision of information and advice. The closing date for expressions of interest in participation in the network is 5 May 1995.
