On 18-20 November 2019 the second Space Academy took place in Bremen, Germany. The event saw close to 60 participants involved in workshop sessions on key topics aimed at accelerating them to success, from looking at business models, how to become investment ready, technology-transfer and innovation opportunities, discovering how crowd-funding may work for your business, as well as learning more about the European Space System and doing business with ESA. The selected 10 companies also benefited from a series of one to one meetings with experts, looking at how to make the most out of their individual situation, looking at investment opportunities with business angels, their HR needs, strategies and much more. The event concluded with a session embedded in the world renowned Space Tech Expo event, where a panel discussion with VCs and investment experts went over the difficulties companies face in getting funding and how to best address these, the promise of ‘New Space’ and how it affects the conventional space ecosystem, and how New Space organisations can be integrated into more conventional ones. The selected SpaceUp companies were then given the chance to pitch to the space tech audience followed by Q&A with the investors and experts. We look forward to the next Space Academy in Rome, 25-26 March. Call for applications for start-ups and entrepreneurs to open soon! See www.space-academy.eu for more details and updates.
