The European Commission, DG XIII, has produced two information booklets on the COST programme for European cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research: "COST Telecommunications: General information" and "COST Telecommunications: Technical overview". COST is principally a framework for R&D cooperation which allows for the coordination of nationally funded research on a European level. COST actions exist in 15 research domains, the largest of which is COST Telecommunications, which supports cooperation on the research necessary to develop the universal communications infrastructure of the 21st century. The "General information" booklet describes the COST framework in general and in particular the telecommunications domain. It presents the administrative procedures necessary to start or join a COST action, followed by a list of COST contact points. The "Technical overview" booklet provides detailed information on the 25 COST actions operational in the telecommunications domain during 1994. Supplementary information includes a list of contact persons and publications. The 1995 version of the "Technical overview" booklet will be available in June 1995.
