The European Commission, DG V, has published an open invitation to tender for expert and technical assistance in the fields of public health and health and safety in the workplace. The new competencies attributed to the European Commission by the Treaty on European Union as regards public health (and health and safety in the workplace), as well as the constant increase of budgets relating to these fields, involve a considerable increase in evaluation tasks and monitoring of dossiers. In order to face up to its missions, the Health and Safety Directorate must call upon one or several external companies for carrying out certain technical assistance works linked to the fields below: - Public safety policies and analyses; - Promotion, education and training with regard to health; - Medical data, health indicators, control and monitoring of diseases; - Cancer; - Drugs; - AIDS and other transmissible diseases; - Voluntary and involuntary accidents and injuries; - Diseases linked to pollution; - Rare diseases; - Legislative actions in the field of health and safety; - International cooperation; - Professional diseases; - Protection, health and hygiene in the workplace and prevention of professional diseases; - Accident prevention in the workplace. The tasks to be performed for the fields set out above are as follows: - Preparation of synthesis and work documents including specialized documentation; - Participation in technical meetings; preparation of documents and reports; - Preparation of evaluation sheets for project proposals presented to the Commission; - Data capture as well as elaboration, database management and development in the field of public health (management of requests for subsidies, expressions of interest, bases for specialized bodies in the struggle against drug addiction and AIDS); - Technical secretarial work for documents prepared by experts; - Necessary consultations for scientific/technical aspects in the fields of health and safety (hygienist, chemist, factory inspector, sociologist); - Monitoring of works effected by national and international organizations, specialized non-governmental organizations, contractors and recipients of subsidies.
