After a decade in European science, Research*eu publishes its final issue

For the past 10 years, Research*eu magazine has chronicled the most interesting, innovative and important EU-funded science being carried out across the world.

Launched in 2011, Research*eu magazine was tasked with bringing readers news of the latest research results from across the Horizon 2020 and European Research Council programmes. Over 108 issues, it published 5 925 Results in Brief articles from across nine subject domains. In more recent issues, the magazine cast the spotlight on 32 exceptional research efforts as the Project of the Month, while Life After investigated the impact EU funding had on the fortunes of 32 project coordinators a year from their project’s conclusion. The magazine was a tremendous success: approximately 1.6 million magazine copies were printed and shipped to thousands of print subscribers in over 100 countries, from Austria to Zambia. This breadth of readership was reflected in the stories they read. The most-read issues, as measured by online views, included specials on black holes, new technologies for fighting crime, and lessons from the economic crisis. Many wrote in over the course of the magazine’s life to offer their praise. Léa Briet, a junior medical advisor in France, wrote to say “I’ve been subscribing to CORDIS for 4 years. It’s exciting to see all these European research projects showcased!” The United Kingdom’s Mike White told us “For a long time, I have looked forward to receiving Research*eu in my post. Always an interesting read. Thank you for continually providing a wonderful publication that has always added to my love and knowledge of science.” Find more Research*eu figures and reader testimonials in the PDF version of issue #108. While the magazine has closed, subscribers can still access all the content online at CORDIS, where new articles will continue to be published, and new products developed. Many thanks to all our readers for their past and future support.
