The European Commission, DG XII, has published "A review of research in environmental health and chemical safety in the STEP (1989-1992) and ENVIRONMENT (1991-1994) research programmes". The publication focuses on environmental health and chemical safety research as implemented by shared-cost and concerted actions in the STEP and ENVIRONMENT programmes. It lists the 60 projects carried out under these programmes and provides the objectives, and results to date, of each project, details of the scientific coordinator and a list of the partners and institutions involved. In particular, the following topics are covered: - Impact of air quality on human health; - Impact of ozone depletion on human health; - Impact of environmental chemicals on human health: Exposure and effects assessment; - Risk assessment for environmental chemicals.
