The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender for a study entitled "Market developments in the private exchange and services segment". The study will cover developments in Private Telecommunications Networks (PTNs), also known as Corporate Telecommunications Networks (CPNs). The objective of the study is to provide information on the market and the technical developments in this sector. The study should cover the application of ISDN technology as delivered by iSPBX, Centrex, leased lines and VPN. The study will assess the needs and practices in the both the Member States of the EU and in the rest of the world. The Commission is particularly interested in the ways in which standardization and regulation can properly support the needs of this market.
