The European Commission, DG XXI, has published a call for tender for the provision of a common communication network/common system interface (CCN/CSI) establishing a horizontal platform to allow homogeneous and efficient data exchange between applications in the fiscal and customs sectors. The work to be subcontracted is divided into three parts: - Lot 1: Project Management Support. The selected bidder for Lot 1 will directly support the management team of DG XXI for the three main activities ensuring the success of the overall project. These activities are: . Project quality control and supervision; . Member State co-ordination; . Definition of the management and operational procedure to be put in place as soon as the system becomes operational. - Lot 2: CCN/CSI implementation. The main activities foreseen for this lot are: . Specification of the full system which should include the means to execute synchronous and asynchronous data transfer, value added services and administrative tools; . Development of the full system, considering that the business objective for the next year will be to focus on the CSI component; . Hardware procurement to acquire the suitable hardware platform; . Software procurement to acquire the suitable software; . System operation allowing management of the system when operational and support to national users (help desk facility). - Lot 3: Network services. This lot should provide the system with network services providing communication between gateways. The network service should be provided in all European Member States and should fulfil the requirements set out in the tender specification. The purpose of each lot is to establish, between DG XXI and the successful bidder for that lot, a framework contract to fulfil the duties pertaining to that lot.
